Goal Setting for 2017

It’s almost the start of a new year. A great time to get rid of the resolutions and focus on goal-setting in 2017 to make it a record-breaking year! Happy New Year There are so many things that you could be doing but if you focus on a few key strategies, it can make a big difference in achieving them. Focus when your clients are speaking: learn the need and serve the need. Really listen to their objectives and how you can fulfill the void with your services. Touch base with clients that were on the fence or said no to your services. Their circumstances may have changed and may now be open. You just need to reach out. Learn to delegate the tasks that someone else can handle for you. This will allow you to have more time to focus on what’s really important. You don’t have to control EVERYTHING!  I know this can be difficult for some more than others but it can be a game changer once you let a few things go and focus on where your strengths will shine. Maybe hire that assistant you’ve been thinking about. Time is money and if you’re inundated with a multitude of tasks and busywork, how will you be most effective to build new business relationships to grow your business? Shift your mindset: Don’t focus on the short comings of the business and what you don’t like. Don’t hang out with the negative people at work. Put the blinders on and focus on your own productivity and where you can make a difference. Focus on SMART goal setting: setting goals that are SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, RELEVANT AND TIME-BASED. You can take some continuing education classes in your field, learn to become a better public speaker, learn to use the latest software and working on your elevator pitch….all add value. The process of setting goals forces you to assess what has and has not been working in your current business pursuits. Focus on short term and long term goals that are realistic. Create a timeline for each action-due date: This allows you to build momentum and prioritize to keep you and your services at top of mind awareness. Focus on accountability for your goals to achieve them. The best accountability monitors are your people that you respect in the workplace. Everyone needs goals to help keep them moving forward. Goals provide direction and motivation and a clear way to measure your progress and helps build the bridge between where you are now and where you want to be. Best wishes for a great start to 2017!!
